Jack Eichel is a pretty big star in the league and at just 23 years of age is already tired of losing and playing in Buffalo. There has been a lot of talk about him being traded which is news considering his age and talent. There’s a baseline I am going to be using for his trades which is a roster player to make the cap work, at least 1 draft pick, and at least one prospect because he is worth that much.
Jack Eichel to the Los Angeles Kings for Gabe Vilardi, Canucks second-round pick, Jeff Carter, Tobias Björnfot, and the flames 2020 and 2021 4th round picks.
The Kings have the cap space to do this trade, are going to likely select Byfield at 2 this year, and have some win-now roster along with the best prospect pool. Why not move part of that pool for one of the best players in the league. Kopitar is still amazing and would be either a good winger for Eichel or an amazing 2c.
Vilardi is a highly touted prospect who has been injured a lot but is skilled enough to be a top 6 winger in the league. Bjornfot was the last pick of the first round last year and looks to be a top 6 defenseman. The 2nd round could be around 50 and the 2 4th rounders have value as well.
Jack Eichel to the Colorado Avalance for Bowen Byram, Jonas Donskoi, and the Maple leafs 3rd round pick.
Bowen Byram is a consensus top 3 prospect in hockey after going 4th overall in last year’s draft. Jonas Donskoi has turned himself into a pretty good top 9 scorer and a 3rd round pick that projects to be in the ’80s. If the Avalance can pull this off their top 6 could be Rantannen- Mackinnon-Eichel and Landeskog-Kadri-Burakofsky easily one of if not the best in hockey.
Jack Eichel to the New York Rangers for Kappo Kakko, Marc Stall, and the Dallas Stars 3rd round pick.
Kakko had a rough rookie year where he was really bad everywhere not named the powerplay where he was alright but not special. He still was the second pick of last year’s draft and could still be a star even though I wish he played another year in the Liiga to better his development. Marc Stall was healthy scratched this year and would see bottom pairing minutes in Buffalo but that’s better than being scratched. He is really just here to make salaries work. The third-round pick involved will likely be around pick 80 as well.
