This is part two to my deep dives into Michigan State recruiting part 1 was on football. In this article I will give my predictions for MSU’s top basketball recruiting targets.
Recently, MSU was able to land what most people are saying is the best high school prospect since LeBron James in 5 star, SF, Emoni Bates for the 2022 class. It is unclear weather he will reclassify to the 2021 class and join Pierre Brooks III or if he will stay in the 2022 class. There is also a possibility that he doesn’t play at MSU at all. My prediction is that Bates reclassifies to the 2021 class and plays one season at MSU then enters the NBA Draft.
Predictions:
Jaden Akins, 2021, 4 star, PG – Akins is one of the most underrated players in the 2021 class. Akins is being recruited the hardest by MSU and Michigan. I think Jaden really likes how Izzo was able to develop great guards like Cassius Winston and Mateen Cleeves. I think Izzo lands Jaden Akins. My prediction: MSU
Kobe Bufkin, 2021, 4 star, SG – In the early months of 2020 it was pretty unclear who lead on Bufkin but after MSU landed 4 star SG Pierre Brooks III, Michigan has submerged as the favorite to land the Grand Rapids product. My prediction: Michigan
Enoch Boakye, 2022, 4 star, C – Boakye is a Canadian product with interest (not offers) from major programs like Duke and Kentucky. His biggest offer is from MSU and they appear to be the favorite to land Enoch. But, considering he is a 2022 player, things will likely change. My prediction: MSU
Ty Rodgers, 2022, 4 star, G/F – Rodgers is a 6’4 small forward from my home town, Grand Blanc, Michigan. He holds offers from Michigan, MSU, OSU and more. As of right now I think it’s too early to make a prediction for Rodgers so I’m copping out. Although, a few months from now I think you could get some insight on where he might be wanting to play. My prediction: TBD
