The Dallas Cowboys will visit Los Angeles to play the Rams in the season opener, at the newly finished SoFi Stadium. Both teams are pretty evenly matched up and the Cowboys (8-8) finished one game behind the Rams (9-7) and even beat them at home, 44-21 in the 2019 season. If the Cowboys want to come away with a nice week-one win to start off the season, they will have to focus on some key matchups.

La’el Collins vs Aaron Donald

Both La’el Collins and Aaron Donald are some of the best at their respectable position. They’re both also looking for a pro bowl season if they keep up their performances from years past. Though La’el Collins was just involved in a minor car accident, he should be ready to go by September 13th. If they do both end up playing, it could be an exciting matchup as La’el  tries to stop the All Pro Defensive Tackle from wreaking havoc on Quarterback Dak Prescott.

Cowboys D-Backs vs Rams Receiving Core

The Rams may have lost Brandin Cooks but they still have Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp, both receivers who had 1,100+ yards last season. The Rams also have Tight End Tyler Higbee who’s right on the verge of being top-five in the league when he had 69 receptions (6th) and 734 receiving yards (7th).

After Dallas lost Cornerback Byron Jones to free agency, their Defensive Backs unit took a hit. Though the Cowboys drafted Cornerbacks Trevon Diggs and Reggie Robinson plus the addition of Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Last game they did a good job of locking down Rams Wide Receivers, but they had a little bit of trouble keeping up with Tyler Higbee. Hopefully this year they can replicate (or better) last season’s performance. Though the Cowboys may struggle a little.

Amari Cooper/Michael Gallup vs Jalen Ramsey

The Dallas Cowboys added star college Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb during the draft to solidify one of the best receiving cores in the league. Although the Rams have Jalen Ramsey, a top Cornerback in the NFL, the Cowboys have two Wide Receiver 1’s in Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. I’m expecting nothing less than a field day from Dak and all of his targets once they start to get settled in.

If Dallas is able to win all three of these key matchups, I’m expecting a big win to start off the season.
