The COVID-19 outbreak had caused NASCAR to cancel all races since March 8th. But recently, NASCAR has made a big announcement and stated that raced will be returning May 17th to Darlington Raceway!
The race will be held without fans and will be monitored by strict guidelines. On the contrary, this will be a huge media boost for NASCAR, and bring in thousands of more fans due to the fact of it being the only live major sporting event taking place.
NASCAR is often the forgotten major sport of America. Many networks including ESPN rarely talk about NASCAR (unless a major event or situation takes place). That being said this is exactly what NASCAR needs; a brand new set of eyes on its sport, to allow for an influx of new fans to begin loving the sport!
Not only is NASCAR returning May 17th for the Cup series, it is also returning with its Xfinity and Gander Outdoors Truck series!
The cup series by far is the most watched NASCAR event; Which is why there will be four cup series raced within 11 days (2 Darlington, 2 Charlotte)! as these places have been allowed by their state to go back racing!
Below, is the upcoming schedule for NASCAR:
May 17th – Cup Series – Darlington – 3:30pm ET, FOX
May 19th – Xfinity- Darlington – 8pm ET, FS1
May 20th – Cup Series- Darlington – 7:30 pm ET, FS1
May 24th – Cup Series- Charlotte – 6pm ET, FOX
May 25th – Xfinity- Charlotte – 7:30pm ET, FS1
May 26th – Gander (Trucks) – Charlotte – 8pm ET, FS1
May 27th – Cup Series- Charlotte – 8pm ET, FS1
If you have never watched NASCAR, I highly suggest you should tune in to one or even multiple of these events, you may even really enjoy it! Ladies and gentlemen, NASCAR is back!
