It’s time for one of England’s bright young stars to return to his home country, and for Manchester United to make another splash and prove that the Red Devils are back for a run at Domestic and European glory.
For this to happen, it is in the hands of the Manchester United Board of Directors and Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær to convince 20-year-old star, Jadon Sancho, that United are heading in the right direction and are the right fit for his future.
Sancho, who has dazzled this season with 14 goals and 15 assists in 23 games in the German Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund, is rumored to want a move back to England.
Manchester United will face competition for Sancho’s signature, presumably from Chelsea — which is Sancho’s hometown club — where Frank Lampard is in the midst of rebuilding the Chelsea squad with young talent.
In my eyes, going to your home club is a dream scenario for Sancho, but with an abundance of wing players such as Chrisitan Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Willian (who may be on his way out), and Pedro, there is more competition for Sancho rather than the solidified role he would have on United.
There have been reports that United have promised the Number 7 shirt to Sancho which has been worn by past club legends Eric Cantona, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo. United have a position open at Right-wing for Sancho to slide right into and star at the position years to come and he would complete a promising attacking trio that consists of Anthony Martial and fellow countryman and good friend, Marcus Rashford.
This trio, with their youth, energy, pace, and skill would cause havoc for opposing defenses and bring glory back to the club. Also not to mention an 18-year-old rising star, Mason Greenwood, to provide depth for United’s attack.
Although all of this is on the table for Sancho to consider, United must convince him that for maybe for just next season, pending the COVID-19 situation, that the club will have to compete in the UEFA Europa League rather than the UEFA Champions League and hope that promises of domestic success will be enough to persuade Sancho to sign.
Along with his new role and all the potential Sancho brings to the club, the need for a player of his caliber will also help bolster the club’s chances of retaining French superstar midfielder, Paul Pogba, as United attempt to surround him with more promising talent to compete at a high level and win trophies.
The January transfer window acquisition of midfielder Bruno Fernandes has already shown the results of a successful signing for the club with Bruno winning Premier League player of the month in only his first month in the league and changing the attitude of the entire club by himself.
If United are able to convince Pogba to stay and pair him up with Bruno in the midfield along with the potential attacking trio mentioned before and a solid backline of defense, United will have a chance to be lethal in the Prem once again and re-establish themselves as a European football gian.
And it all starts by securing Jadon Sancho.
