This offseason, the Steelers were in a bad spot cap-wise, sitting at -$20 million in cap space. Let’s review their offseason so far.

The worst part about each offseason is losing key players, especially players loved by the fans. The Steelers lost Bud Dupree, Mike Hilton, Matt Feiler, and James Conner to free agency and released Steven Nelson (freed up 8.25M in cap space) and Vince Williams (freed up 4M in cap space).

The Steelers were able to resign some big players like Juju-Smith Schuster, Cameron Sutton, Zach Banner, Tyson Alualu, Ray-Ray McCloud, Robert Spillane, and were also able to pick up some free agents like B.J. Finley, Matthew Sexton, Kallen Ballage, Joe Heag, Jarvis Miller, and T.J Carter.

Last season, the Steelers lacked in their run game, coming in DEAD LAST. That is a problem—you’re not going to go far in the playoffs without a run game. With losing James Conner to free agency, the Steelers MUST draft a running back in the first 2 rounds whether that be Najee Harris, Travis Etienne, or Javonte Williams.

Another big need in the draft is a center, with HOF center Maurkice Pouncey retiring. Ff the Steelers go running back round 1,  round 2 better be a center or they may choose to go OL round 1. Some options are Landon Dickerson or Creed Humphrey.

Now the main question is “Do the Steelers trade up for a QB?” They don’t need to but it is possible, and the Steelers have shown a lot of interest in QB Justin Fields from Ohio State. He is projected to go within the top 10, and the Steelers have pick 24. They need to trade up for a QB like him, Mac Jones, or Trey Lance. Trevor Lawrance and Zach Wilson are out of the question.

If they do trade up for a QB, which is possible, who starts? They player they trade up for or Big Ben?
