When discussing elite defenders in college football, a lot of names come to mind. Derek Stingley at LSU, Micah Parsons from Penn State, Gregory Rousseau and Kaiir Elam at their respective teams in the Sunshine State all get mentioned in the media.

But there are two defenders in Forth Worth, Texas that deserve way more respect. TCU’s deadly safety duo of Ar’Darius Washington and Trevon Moehrig are quite possibly the best defensive duo in the nation.

Washington posted a nation high 92.5 PFF coverage grade whilst Moehrig followed that up with the league’s 2nd best at 92.1. Moehrig lead the duo in tackles at 62 while Washington had 42 combining for a whopping 108 tackles.

Along with 108 tackles, the two had 13 passes defended and 9 interceptions resulting in 92 return yards. They only gave up 6 catches between the two. Moehrig also forced two fumbles and recovered one.

The Hornfrogs saw their best corner, Jeff Gladley, get drafted by the Vikings in the 2020 NFL Draft; but the emergence of this dynamic duo on the backend, along with returning Big 12 tackle leading linebacker Garret Wallow could see TCU having one of the best defenses in not only the conference, but all of college football.
