If you’re a Miami Dolphins fan, I have some good news for you… the Dolphins actually have a promising future! It may seem weird to hear, especially with how dreadful the roster was last season, but hear me out.
Miami is destined to build an explosive offense around future franchise QB Tua Tagovailoa. Prior to this offseason, the Dolphins already had some studs on the offensive side of the ball with tight end Mike Gesicki and wide recievers Preston Williams and Devante Parker. Gesicki and Parker are both young underrated play makers with high ceilings.
Miami also added some nice pieces to their offense during free agency. Additions of Jordan Howard (a former 1,000 yard rusher) and acquiring a productive RB 2 in Matt Breida, will help create a fertile backfield. None of these offensive players are superstars, but with what Miami is stirring up, the potential of this team is bright.
Something that the Dolphins have been quietly doing is establishing an o-line. Miami adding Ted Karras will help that interior o-line immensely. They also added Ereck Flowers who struggled in New York with the Giants, but when moved to guard in Washington, Flowers improved drastically by only letting up two sacks on the season.
These two additions will drastically help the interior offensive line. However, Chris Grier wasn’t done there. He drafted three offensive lineman in this year’s draft. First round pick, Austin Jackson has room to develop, but has very high potential and can learn a thing or two from some of the vets on that line.
To say the Dolphins improved their defense is a massive understatement. Miami made an absolute splash on the defensive side of the ball. The signing of star corner, Byron Jones will have an immediate impact on their defense. Jones will team up with Xavien Howard and first-rounder Noah Igbinoghene as they create an elite CB core.
Head coach Brian Flores also reunites with stand-out vet LB Kyle Van Noy and added a young talented pass rusher in Shaq Lawson. The Dolphins also added DE Emmanuel Ogbah, who ranked 4th among edge defenders with a 10.6% run stop rate.
We can’t forget about the star lefty out of Alabama, Tua Tagovailoa. Tua is an abundance of talent and someone who I think will have the best career out of any of the QBs from the 2020 draft due to one reason, Ryan “Fitzmagic”.
If I’m a GM and want one person to mentor my future franchise QB, it’s hands down Ryan Fitzpatrick. He’s very smart, a team player, and someone who’s played in practically half of the league’s offesnive systems. Tua will sit behind Fitzpatrick and develop into a QB nobody thought he could become.
The most important reason the Fins can win the Super Bowl is “B-Flo”. Brian Flores has brought a rare luxury to the Dolphins-the ability of bringing in star free agents. But that’s not all he brings to the table. Brian Flores managed to win 5 games against worthy opponent last season with a 40% un-drafted roster. That is unheard of.
With all the Dolphins have added through the draft and free agency, as well as a good amount of cap space for next off season, the team’s future is set. Miami will be back to glory days within the next five years, mark my words.
