Jadeveon Clowney is arguably the best linebacker in the NFL, and during a career spent with the Houston Texans and the Seattle Seahawks, he would be a perfect fit for Detroit.

The Detroit Lions, with Matt Patricia’s man-to-man system, is perfect for a pass rusher like Clowney. With defensive backs Jeff Okudah and Desmond Trufant covering opposing receivers, Clowney would have a good amount of time to get to the QB.

While the Lions had the worst pass defense in the league last year, it is arguably because of their lack of pressure, not their lack of coverage downfield.

If Patricia wants to keep laying a heavy man-to-man defense, he needs someone to get some pressure along with the Okwara brothers and Trey Flowers.

The Detroit Lions have top 5 salary cap space in the NFL right now, so they have the resources to sign a top-name player, and Clowney would be a great addition to a defense that needs pressure.

If the Lions can pick up Clowney to improve our defense, and if Matthew Stafford can stay healthy, the Lions can be a potential playoff team in the upcoming season. (If it happens.)

In 13 games last season, Clowney grabbed his first career interception, forced 4 fumbles as well as recovering 2, one of which was for a touchdown.

Clowney also had 31 total tackles, to go along with 3 sacks and 7 tackles for loss.

This was an off-year for him.

Since Clowney would be a great fit for the Lions, and Detroit has the cap space to sign a big-name player, Clowney to Detroit is something that should, and can happen.
