Running backs are undoubtedly the most important position in fantasy football. With the volume that they get, a great pick can win you your league. I’ll be looking at four RBs that you need to target in your fantasy drafts (all being taken at different points in the draft), so let’s find out who those guys are.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire – KC

Clyde could easily win you your league, solely based on his situation. Andy Reid RBs always outperform their expectations when first coming onto the team, and the praise that the coaches and Mahomes have given him is ridiculous. CEH has Brian Westbrook potential in this system as a three-down back, that role in KC is worth an early 2nd round pick, not an early 3rd.

David Montgomery – CHI

David Montgomery is being taken at his floor, as he had 242 carries last season and is still being taken as the RB24. Just to let you know why I think he’s being underdrafted, every single RB in the past decade with his workload has finished in the top 24 RBs. If you don’t like your options in the third round, you can feel comfortable staying away from RB (something that I don’t normally say) and get the ultra-safe Montgomery nearly two rounds later.

J.K. Dobbins – BAL

Dobbins could very easily be a league winner. Dobbins is currently behind Mark Ingram, who turns 31 later in 2020 and I could easily see a Miles Sanders like season for him. At first, I don’t see him being more than a flex consideration every week (and he’s being taken at RB34), but the second that the rookie back gets the full workload in the most run-heavy offense in the NFL, the coaching staff will realize who their RB of the future is and will allow him to perform at an elite level down the stretch.

Duke Johnson – HOU

There’s a very low chance that Duke doesn’t return value being taken as the RB50. Duke is behind David Johnson in Houston, who is very injury prone, so Duke Johnson is one injury away from a full workload and likely RB2 performance. Even if David Johnson isn’t hurt, Duke’s role on 3rd downs is worth flex consideration. I’ll be taking Duke a ton, knowing that I won’t regret it.

Honorable Mentions: Matt Breida, Kareem Hunt, Ronald Jones, Marlon Mack, Antonio Gibson.
