Due to COVID-19, more free agents are currently available than normal in July. There are four specific players that I have my eye on, and here’s a look at them and their potential landing spots.
QB Colin Kaepernick
Based on the way that June went, Kaep’s odds of getting signed ascend every week. He has the talent to be an above average backup, but some teams don’t want that drama. Teams to watch are the Rams, Ravens, and Buccaneers. None of those teams have solid backups, and Kaep would provide media coverage and a good backup if injury comes into play.
RB Devonta Freeman
Freeman is far too talented to be a free agent. He is a great RB who could easily take over for any injured back early on. He’s shown nothing but good play, and he could easily take over for anyone who goes down. Good fits are the Buccaneers, Patriots, and Redskins. There are jobs up for grabs in all three spots, and he could come and take one.
WR Antonio Brown
Reading this name hurts my head. Brown has put himself in this hole, and I’d honestly be surprised if he gets signedd. He isn’t on a roster for a reason, and I think that with the low chance that he comes back, he is suspended. However QBs such as Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson want him, so Seattle and Houston are potential landing spots. And no, not Tampa.
OG Larry Warford
Larry Warford was surprisingly cut from the Saints two months ago, despite being a good guard. Although he just turned 29, Warford has gas left in the tank and expects more than a league minimum, rightfully so. The Texans, Bengals, and Bears make a ton of sense due to their holes at the guard position, and these coaching staffs need stability or their job may not last.
