This week, I got to interview 4-star Alabama Commit- Kristian Story

Story is a 6’1″ / 210 lb athlete from Lanett, Alabama. For those unfamiliar with the the category “athlete,” it means that these players are position-less.

Story is ranked 5th in the Class of 2020 according to 247 Sports Composite rankings. Kristian’s main positions are Quarterback and Safety.

Story had a phenomenal high school career. He broke the AHSAA records for total yards of offense (13,219 yards) and touchdowns (175). Story also led Lanett High to a 1A state championship in his senior year, in which he rushed for 110 yards, threw for 249 yards, and scored 4 total touchdowns.

He won game MVP for his performance. To round out Kristian’s incredible high school resume, he won the 2019 Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year. *Interview was done over Instagram DM

Q: Describe what was going through your head during the recruiting process. You had 20+ D1 offers, and chose Tennessee. Several months later, you decided to step back and take more time to make your decision. You eventually chose Alabama. What led you to that decision?

The main thing I tried to focus on during my recruitment was when I went on visits, I tried to envision myself in the environment and getting to know the coaches. I was led to Alabama because there is no reason to not go there, and I felt most comfortable there.

Q: Being a two-way player allows you to be extremely valuable to a team, as you can be a “position-less player.” Has Nick Saban communicated how he plans to use you in the starting lineup next season?

No, Coach Saban hasn’t said anything about starting, but we have talked about the many different ways I could be used.

Q: Which NFL player, past or present, would you say you model your game after? Both offense and defense.

Offensively, I say I model my game after Deshaun Watson. Defensively, I model my game after Jamal Adams.

Q: You are about to be mentored by the Greatest College Football coach to ever live, Nick Saban. What are you looking forward to most about working with him?

I’m just looking forward to the opportunity to soak up all the knowledge I can.

Q: What are some goals you have for yourself and the team for the upcoming 2020 season?

My Personal Goal is to just make a positive impact on the team and everything else will fall into place. Hopefully we walk away with a National Championship.

Q: You have accomplished a lot in high school. You lead Lanett to a 1A title, finished as the AHSAA all time record holder in total offensive yards and touchdowns, and won Gatorade Alabama Player of the year. What has been your most memorable accomplishment and why?

The most memorable accomplishment has to be winning the 1A title this past year, going out my senior year as a winner was important.

Big thanks to Kristian for doing this interview!
