A Hidden College Hoops Gem: Makael Rainbow

Reading Time: 2 minutesMakael Rainbow is a 6’2″ point guard from Laveen, Arizona. He attended Fairfax HS (AZ) where he averaged a very impressive 24 PPG, 3 RPG, 3 APG, and 3 SPG. This included a 38 PT performance against Buena HS (AZ). Following a very productive high school career at Fairfax, Rainbow decided to enroll in South Mountain CC which is located in Phoenix. While at South Mountain, Rainbow proved to everyone that he is a very good scoring guard. The athletic lefty guard has a very quick first step which allows him to blow past defenders, getting...

Maryland’s Potential 2021 Basketball Recruiting Class (Part 2)

Reading Time: 2 minutesThe Terps are targeting a lot of players for the class of 2021 in hopes of a massive class. In addition to part 1, these are the players I think Maryland has the best chance of getting. Aminu Mohammed: Mohammed is a 6″4 SG/SF in the class of 2021. Child Basketball Prodigies that Didn’t Live Up to the Hype

Reading Time: 4 minutes One of the biggest problems with basketball is the overhyping of young players. Oftentimes middle school basketball players are anointed as “the next big thing” and more often than not these players don’t live up to the early expectations. For example, if a middle schooler dunks or one of their (workout) mixtapes gets posted they’re said to be the next big thing, but this frequently does not turn out to be true. In this article, I will highlight a few players in the 2020 class who were hyped since middle school but did not meet...

The Frontrunners for CBB Preseason No. 1

Reading Time: 2 minutes  I’ll highlight just my personal three favorites, rather than a long list of talented squads. In my opinion, Gonzaga, Villanova, and Baylor, are the top 3 teams heading into next year. All 3 finished top ten in the AP Poll and will return most of their production. Gonzaga The Zags’ are my personal choice for preseason number one, returning three double digit scorers in Petrusev, Kispert, and Ayayi. This isn’t even mentioning the Zags’ 11th ranked recruiting class highlighted by top ten prospect Jalen Suggs. Filip Petrusev dominated the WCC averaging 18-8-2 on 56% shooting....

Purdue Basketball’s Path to the Top of the Big Ten

Reading Time: 2 minutesAfter coming off of a riveting Elite 8 run in 2019, Purdue had some lofty expectations to live up to in the 2019-20 season. Any way you look at it, Purdue did not meet these expectations. For the past 5 years, the expectation for Purdue basketball is at the very least an NCAA Tournament birth. I suppose we will never know if Purdue would have achieved that birth this year; however at 16-15 the Boiler’s chances seemed very slim. Although there’s a lot of uncertainty around the team, there’s still plenty to be excited about. Purdue...
