Big Ten 2020-21 Conference Preview

Reading Time: 3 minutes The Big Ten is the best conference in basketball, and home to the best returning player in the country in Luka Garza of Iowa. The Big Ten goes 10-11 teams deep, all of which who could be tournament teams in March. Ayo Dosunmu, Marcus Carr, and Trayce Jackson-Davis highlight the names of other stars in this conference too. Below are my 2020-21 preseason Big Ten rankings, and an explanation to go with them. 1. WisconsinThe Badgers won the Big Ten last season, and return nearly everyone from the team last year, losing only Brevin Pritzl....

Early-August Bracketology: In-Depth

Reading Time: 2 minutes 1 Seeds The top seed in each region was fairly easy for me to pick out, with Villanova and Baylor returning nearly their whole team, they should be the top 2 teams in the country quite easily. Virginia and Kansas both return talent, including guys like Kihei Clark and Marcus Garrett. Also, Sam Hauser and Bryce Thompson will be the big additions each team needs to earn a 1 seed this season. 2-4 Seeds I’m keen on Luka Garza returning, and that would likely mean an all-time great season for the Hawkeyes. A 2 seed...

The Frontrunners for CBB Preseason No. 1

Reading Time: 2 minutes  I’ll highlight just my personal three favorites, rather than a long list of talented squads. In my opinion, Gonzaga, Villanova, and Baylor, are the top 3 teams heading into next year. All 3 finished top ten in the AP Poll and will return most of their production. Gonzaga The Zags’ are my personal choice for preseason number one, returning three double digit scorers in Petrusev, Kispert, and Ayayi. This isn’t even mentioning the Zags’ 11th ranked recruiting class highlighted by top ten prospect Jalen Suggs. Filip Petrusev dominated the WCC averaging 18-8-2 on 56% shooting....

Why Luka Garza Should’ve Won National Player of the Year

Reading Time: < 1 minutesAs we all know, Obi Toppin recently won the AP National Player of the Year award. Congrats to the Dayton Flyer on his accomplishment. Though, in my opinion, there was a better alternative. That player being Iowa center Luka Garza. Let’s start with the level of competition that these two both went against. Obviously both are at D1 schools, but there’s a bit of a difference between the A10 and the Big Ten. The Atlantic 10s only team that finished ranked were the Flyers themselves. Including Iowa, the Big Ten had SIX top 25 teams....

Four Sleeper Teams for March Madness

Reading Time: 3 minutesThere’s a handful of teams that aren’t seeded the highest, but I can see getting to the tournament. Some important things I look for are experienced players, and a talented backcourt. Let’s look at four of the most underrated squads: Marquette 15-6 (5-4) The Golden Eagles currently sit at a 5 seed for me, and will likely finish in the 4-6 range; but this team has the capability to last far into March. We all know star Markus Howard, who leads the NCAA in scoring by a full two points per game. The backcourt doesn’t stop there,...
