Jermore Kent is part of 2021’s class of very underrated recruits. Kent is a 6-foot-2, 225 pound LB/TE out of Atholton High School located in Columbia, Maryland. His first Division 1 offer came from Butler University on October 12, 2019. He is an extraordinarily hard worker and will give any Division 1 program a flat out dog and competitor down to the last second of every game.
I conducted an online interview in which Jermore Kent gave incredibly deep and emotional responses. The interview is below:
Q: What schools are recruiting you the hardest?
As of right now, Virginia University of Lynchburg is recruiting me the hardest. I’ve been in contact with multiple division one schools that are interested in me and will be watching to see what I do this season. I’m just waiting my turn. I understand the importance of being patient and trusting the process.
Q: How has the recruitment process been during the Covid-19 pandemic?
The recruitment process has been different. Mostly due to campus visits/camps being canceled. Everything has been virtual. I’ve talked to Long Island, Bethune-Cookman, Merrimack, and Howard to name a few schools throughout the pandemic.
Q: What are your statistical goals for next football season?
I haven’t made any specific statistical goals for next season yet. My goal is to be the top prep school football player in the country and to help my team win games.
Q: What position do you see yourself playing at the next level and why?
I ultimately see myself playing LB at the next level because of my body type and physicality. I have that DOG mentality. I want to destroy my opponent every time I step on the field. With that being said I also want coaches to know that I’m a versatile athlete and I can play both TE/WR on offense as well. I can play either side of the ball depending on my team’s needs and where my coaches believe I will excel the most.
Q: How would you describe your game and also how would you describe your mentality on and off the field?
I would describe my game as unique because I feel I can do it all and be a factor. When big plays need to be made for my team I make it happen. I embrace pressure and love to compete. I would describe my mentality on the field as hungry.
I play the game because I love football and also to take care of my family. I get tired of seeing my mother working 24/7 to provide for us. I also play for my grandmother that passed away when I was 14. I want to make her proud and be successful for her. Off the field I would say my mentality is to grow and learn everyday. I want to positively impact someone else’s life and motivate people in any way I can.
