1. Trevor Lawrence – QB, Clemson
Putting on a clinic against Georgia Tech this past Saturday, Trevor Lawrence launched 400+ passing yards and 5 Touchdowns in just a half-and-a-drive on play. Finding his go-to target Amari Rodgers six times for two Touchdowns, Lawrence and the Tigers were locked in and steamrolled into a 73-7 victory. This performance by Dabo Swinney’s ball club is like no other before as this was the largest win in ACC history. Another week, another ousting performance by the soon-to-be No. 1 draft pick.
2. Mac Jones – QB, Alabama
Outlasting the the 3rd ranked Georgia Bulldogs in a Saturday Night showdown, Mac Jones led the Crimson Tide to a second-half comeback, leading to a 41-24 win. Jones put on a show as he has once again proven he is a top Quarterback in College Football. Darting 417 passing yards on 4 TD and 1 INT, Jones didn’t skip a beat against the top-tier Bulldog defense. In a high-scoring duel, Jones found wideouts Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle for a combined 17 receptions, 328 receiving yards and 3 Touchdowns. Next week, Jones leads the Crimson Tide into Knoxville, Tennessee for another SEC matchup.
3. Najee Harris – RB, Alabama
Not only was the air game strong for Alabama, the ground game was in effect as well. The projected first-round selection in the 2021 draft, Najee Harris, had 31 attempts on the ground and executed for 152 rushing yards and 1 TD. Often compared to Titans’ Derrick Henry, Harris brings a presence to the gridiron that is unmatched. A freight-train on tracks could finish the season in the top-3 of the Heisman voting if he keeps his malicious pace. Next week in Knoxville, Harris will have a smooth matchup against the struggling 2-1 Volunteers.
4. Ian Book – QB, Notre Dame
Slowly, but surely, Notre Dame Quarterback Ian Book is crafting a Heisman-potential season. Leading the 5th ranked Fighting Irish into battle with Louisville, Book prevailed with a firm stat line of 153 all-purpose yards, and 1 rushing Touchdown. Though not his best, Book has the ability to put 300+ passing yards and more than a few scores on the board. Book’s season total of 407 passing yards is not the most impressive, but sneaks him into the Heisman power rankings. The Senior captain leads the Fighting Irish next week against the 3-2 Pittsburgh Panthers.
5. Kyle Trask – QB, Florida
In only a pair of games played, Florida Quarterback Kyle Trask is having a Senior season that has never been seen before. Shattering records left and right, the mobile 6-foot-5 Quarterback has 684 passing yards and 10 Touchdowns, in just TWO games played. Simply, impressive. Although not having a game this week due to the team’s COVID-19 outbreak, Trask will look to stay hot and pursue the covenant Heisman award in two weeks against Missouri at home.
