Maryland recently landed the commitment of 4-star Point Guard Paul Lewis. Lewis who is a local product is ranked as the 19th best Point guard, the 9th best player in Virginia and the 108th best player overall in the class of 2022. Lewis goes to Bishop O. Connel High School in Virginia, the same high school that produced former Terp great, Melo Trimble.

I had the pleasure of discussing with Lewis about his commitment, NBA, Kicks and more!

Q: What were the main factors in your decision to commit to Maryland?

A: Maryland has always been my dream school and I feel like my game fits well with the way they play.

Q: What did Coach Turgeon do / say that made you want to commit to him and the program?

A: I honestly already wanted to commit when they offered, but he compared me to Melo Trimble and Anthony Cowan, that showed me that he really appreciated the way I play.

Q: What would be your dream career as a Terp?

A: Winning a Big 10 Championship would be a dream come true.

Q: Have you been in contact  with former Terp Melo Trimble?

A: No, I haven’t talked to him yet.

Q: Have you spoken to any current Terps or other Terp commits and if so, which guys are you closest with?

A: I went to school with Marcus Dockery my freshman year at O’Connell, that’s my guy.

Q: How would you describe your game and what’s your official height and weight?

A: I think I’m a three-level scoring Point Guard but I still love to get my teammates involved. I’m 6’2″ and 170 lbs.

Q: Is there any player you model your game off of in any way and if so, who?

A: I like Ja Morant and Damian Lillard, those are my two favorite players.

Q: Favorite shoe to hoop in?

A: Probably the Anatomix Under Armour or Lillard’s.

Q: Favorite Pro Sports teams?

A: Portland Trailblazers for NBA and Philadelphia Eagles for NFL.

Q: Are you trying to recruit any guys to come and team up with you?

A: I haven’t really talked to any other guys that maryland’s recruiting except Noah Batchelor.

Q: Do you have a message to terp fans?

A: I just want to say even though I have some time before I get there I’m excited about becoming a terp and playing for the best fans in college basketball.

Really appreciate Paul for taking the time!
