Casey Mize, a right-handed starting pitcher in the Detroit Tigers organization is 6’3”, 22 years old going on 23, had a record of 6-3 in his one season in Double-A with the Erie SeaWolves.

Mize went to high school at Springville High in Springville, Alabama. Then, in 2018 was drafted by the Detroit Tigers with the 1st overall selection out of Auburn University.

In his one Minor League season, Mize threw a complete game no-hitter, and had a WHIP of 1.106 and an ERA of 3.20, according to baseball-reference.

According to Jonathan Mayo (MLB.com Draft and Prospect Expert), Casey Mize was the number seven overall prospect in the MLB ranks Pre-2020. Mike was also #13 according to Baseball America, and #12 according to Baseball Prospects.

Mize’s pitching repertoire features a four-seam and a two-seam fastball, both around the 92-97 MPH range, and has great command on both.

Mize’s splitter is lethal for opposing hitters.

His splitter is 85-89 MPH, and the ball drops substantially when it reaches the plate, and like his fastball, his command on the pitch has the potential to be unmatched.

Mize’s slider is also a secret weapon of his. Coming in at about 88-90 MPH, it’s a mix between a conventional slider and a cutter, with a slider spin and a cutter release.

Not to mention, Casey Mize is potentially adding a slurve to his arsenal this season, meaning that he will have 5 pitches he is excellent at commanding, with solid speed on all of them.

With Mize’s stellar pitch arsenal, perfect control and speed he throws those pitches at, only 22 years old, Mize has hall-of-fame potential, and he’s going to be a tough opponent for the batters he faces.
