Although the Ravens had the #1 offense in the NFL last season, the Ravens offense was shutdown in their Divisional matchup versus the Titans. Because of this, GM Eric Decosta wanted to add a few more pieces to make his offense unstoppable.

With that in mind, he picked Ohio State RB J.K. Dobbins with the 55th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. This pick did garner some backlash from fans but fans have to realize that this is a great pick. Although it wasn’t a pressing need like WR, IOL or EDGE, the Ravens do have some uncertainty at the position in the next few years.

Mark Ingram is already 30 and Gus Edwards is a free agent after this season. The Ravens definitely needed another running back for the near future, and it came in the form of a steal with J.K Dobbins.

Dobbins is coming off an amazing season in which he recorded 2,003 yards, 21 TDs and averaged 6.7 yards per carry in 301 attempts. Dobbins brings elite acceleration, vision, elusiveness, and strength, among other things. Although he needs to work fumbling issues and blocking skills, the Ravens should be able to develop him into a quality starter in the next few years.

If all works well for the Ravens, J.K. and Gus Edwards should be a great 1-2 punch for years to come when Mark Ingrams leaves/retires. Dobbins brings speed, Edwards brings power and 2019 fourth round pick Justice Hill could be a speedy, pass catching back used as a third option if needed. This was an amazing pick by Eric Decosta, John Harbaugh, and the Ravens.
