Recently, the Jets signed free agent quarterback Joe Flacco to a 1-year contract worth $1.5 million dollars.

In 2012, Joe Flacco led the Ravens to Superbowl XLVII, defeating the San Francisco 49ers. The final score was 34-31 and Joe Flacco was named Superbowl MVP.

Joe Flacco was drafted by the Ravens with the 18th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. In 2019, he signed with the Denver Broncos and played for 8 games. His record with the Broncos was 2-6.

I personally don’t like the signing because there were better free agent quarterbacks that could back up Sam Darnold. Cam Newton and Matt Moore are some examples of free agent quarterbacks still available.

On the other side, many fans like this signing to help improve quarterback Sam Darnold and rookie quarterback James Morgan.

Last season when Flacco was with the Broncos he said “I’m trying to go out there and play good football. I’m trying to go out there and play the best football of my life. As far as a time constraint and all stuff, I’m not worried about developing guys or any of that. That is what it is, and like I said, I hope he does develop. But I don’t look at that as my job. My job is to go win football games for this football team.”

With that being said, he might not want to mentor the younger quarterbacks. He is entering this season at QB2, and won’t start unless Sam Darnold gets injured or has an illness.

I hope that he helps develop Sam Darnold and James Morgan. I think that this season, the Jets will keep three quarterbacks on the roster Sam Darnold, Joe Flacco, and James Morgan.

Many Jets fans like this signing, do you?
