Maryland’s 2021 class is going to be a good one.
Earlier this week, the Terps landed a commitment from 4 Star 6’9″ PF Julian Reese. Reese is a top 100 prospect and is ranked as the 21st best PF and the 5th best player in the state of Maryland.
Maryland is targeting a wide range of prospects, but the ones that I’ll be naming are the ones that I believe they have the best chance at getting.
Maryland is going to need to add a few solid wing players, along with a solid big man if they want a chance to compete in March.
Ike Cornish: Cornish is a 6”6 shooting guard from Baltimore, Maryland. He is ranked as the 78th best player and 16th best SG in the class of 2021. Cornish dropped his top 9 a few weeks ago that included Maryland. His crystal ball (prediction) is currently 100% Maryland and as of right now as long as nothing changes, Ike will be a terp.
Benny Williams: Williams is a 6”8 small forward from Potomac, Maryland. Williams is the 10th best SF in the class of 2021. In Williams’ top 4, Maryland was included along with Syracuse, Georgetown and Miami. From what I’m hearing it’s between Maryland and Syracuse.
Franck Kepang: Kepnang is a 6”11 Center from Cameroon. He plays high school ball in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Kepnang is ranked as the 25th best player and 6th best center in the class of 2021. Kepnang went on a visit to Maryland during the terps final game against Michigan.
Kepnag’s guardian said Franck had the following to say about to vist to UM: “Oh man, he loved it, You’ve got an electric atmosphere…” Kepnang has the ability to reclassify but his guardian told 247 Sports he doesn’t want Franck to be pressured into making the decision.
The teams recruiting him the hardest are, Maryland, Oregon, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Kansas and Illinois. I
If Franck were to reclassify which would make him eligible for this season, he would make his college decision sometime in June. Franck would be a major addition and would be a great fit to replace Jalen Smith.
Blake Wesley: Wesley is a 6”4 shooting guard from, South Bend, Indiana. He is rated as the 89th best player and the 18th best SG in the class of 2021. The Terps have struggled recruiting players from the Midwest in the past. However, Maryland looks to have a good chance to land Wesley.
Wesley told 247 Sports in April Maryland is heavily recruiting him now and the other schools involved are, Purdue, Notre Dame, Iowa, Xavier, Butler, Indiana and Louisville. Wesley also said to 247 sports he’ll commit around 10 months from now.
