Coming back from a long road trip concluded in Tampa Bay, the Yankees travel back home and begin a nine-game home stand beginning with the Atlanta Braves.
In a mini two-game series, New York looks to put their best foot forward and come out on top against their National League East opponents.
Game 1 Final: Braves 6, Yankees 9

Beginning a two-game set against the highly-regarded National League Atlanta Braves, the New York Yankees looked to steal and lock up a win in game one.
Creating an early dent in the Yankees’ score column, Luke Voit (5) homered to left which led LeMahieu and Hicks to score.
Already having a run in the ballgame, Yankees’ DJ LeMahieu added more production as he scored on an error by Atlanta’s Austin Riley. Later, “The Pride of Princeton” Mike Ford, laced a ball to right which led him to second while two scored.
After the third, the Yankees had grabbed a forceful 6-0 lead.
Adding more production to the pot, for his league-leading ninth home run of the season Aaron Judge (9) clobbered a high-and-inside heater over the center field wall. In the same inning, the fifth, Yankees’ Mike Ford cashed in another run to his magnificent day with an RBI that scored Aaron Hicks.
Down 8-0, backs against the wall, odds against their side, the Atlanta Braves stormed back late and thickened the plot of the game. Fighting back with three straight scoring innings in the sixth, seventh and eight, the Atlanta Braves would not go down without a fight.
A Marcell Ozuna (4) home run scored three while a Dansby Swanson fielder’s choice scored one. Just like that, a Braves comeback was on the rise.
Adding two more to the Braves’ total, a pair of RBI Doubles by Johan Camargo and Tyler Flowers concluded the heat wave for the Atlanta bats. After putting up a tremendous late-game fight and putting a six spot on the scoreboard, it would not be enough to take down The Bronx Bombers.
Adding more to the New York total Mike Ford, once again, connected on an RBI double which scored shortstop Gleyber Torres.
Once up 8-0, Atlanta surged back in the later innings but it wasn’t enough as the Yankees would prevail, 9-6. New York takes game one of the two-game set in The Bronx.

Looking to take two of two and come out with a clean series win against the Atlanta Braves, the New York Yankees’ bats came out strong with production throughout the lineup.
Although going down 2-0 on an early Johan Camargo (3) home run, Aaron Boone’s ball club was able to counter with six unanswered runs.
Back-to-back solo home runs from Gary Sanchez (2) and Clint Frazier (1) ignited and opened up the scoring opportunities for New York.
Doubling to center, Aaron Hicks scored DJ LeMahieu which added to the scoring efforts. Shortly after, a possible slump-busting single by Gleyber Torres led Aaron Hicks to score. At this point, in the fourth inning, the Yankees had momentum in their hands, up 4-2.
Have a day DJ LeMahieu! Adding to his stellar four-hit performance, the Yankees’ second baseman scored one while adding two runs. The sheer consistency and value of LeMahieu is unmatched throughout the league.
Adding more to the scoring total, the hot bat of Luke Voit drove in one more to capped the scoring for the Bronx Bombers.
Though, in the ninth, Atlanta’s Travis d’Arnaud singled which scored shortstop Dansby Swanson. This run would not play pivotal as New York would win game two, 6-4.
Having a pitch count against his side, Yankees’ starter Masahiro Tanaka out-battled Atlanta’s starter Ynoa, and ended up going 4.0 IP, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K. Arguably not having his most lethal pitches on the rubber, Tanaka pushed the Yankees into the winning column.
Recently called-up Clint Frazier had a fantastic game and was a triple away from completing the cycle. The eight-hole hitter in the star-studded lineup certainly proved tonight that he can be an everyday starter in the New York Yankees lineup. A stat line of 3-for-4, a single, a double, a home run and two runs earns Frazier the ‘Player of the Game’ honors.
New York takes two of two in a home series against Atlanta and will face Boston on a four game set following an off-day.
