UNLV commit Anthony Rosas is a 6’4, 300-pound three-star offensive guard from Sierra Vista High School in Baldwin Park, California. Rosas recently committed to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas after receiving several offers from Division 1 programs such as Penn State, Miami, and Maryland. Rosas played Offensive Tackle for Sierra Vista High School but will play Offensive Guard for UNLV in 2021.
I recently had the opportunity to interview Rosas about his commitment to UNLV.
Q: What made you commit to the University of Las Vegas instead of bigger schools like Penn State and Maryland?
A: UNLV just had a better connection with me than the other schools did. The staff was always talking and checking in on me. We were constantly calling each other about football and other things. I really just started to build a family-like bond with them.
Q: How excited are you to play in the brand new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas?
A: I’m so excited to play in that stadium. I’m going to leave my mark at UNLV and ball out in an NFL stadium.
Q: What impact do you think you’ll bring to the UNLV offense, in terms of the running and passing game?
A: I feel like I will make a huge difference. My team will always be able to trust me in a running or passing set. In my opinion, I’m going to be a catalyst for the Las Vegas offensive line.
Q: How does it feel to be the highest-ranked offensive lineman recruit in UNLV history?
A: It feels amazing. Honestly, it goes to show that it doesn’t matter where anybody comes from because anyone can come up and be the best at what they do.
Q: How has the recruiting process been for you during the Coronavirus pandemic?
A: It was a difficult process but at the end of the day, it’s what you do during difficult times that define you. Before my commitment to UNLV, I was able to visit the University of Colorado and Arizona State University.
Q: Why did you start playing football?
A: I started as a freshman because I thought it would be fun. The thing that got me to love football was the contact and physicality of the sport.
Thank you to Anthony Rosas for allowing me to interview you. We here at Phenom wish you success in the future.
