There are many unanswered questions on who should start for Michigan State Basketball next year. Who will come back? Who will improve? Who else will we get? Only time will tell.

Xavier Tillman

This is a no brainer. If MSU basketball gets the gift of Xavier Tillman returning, they would not miss out on the opportunity to put him in the starting lineup. He is a first-round NBA Draft Prospect. The 2020 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year has improved on both sides of the floor and would be a huge win for Tom Izzo and Michigan State.

Rocket Watts

Rocket Watts had a very exciting end of the season last year. That stretch sparked a lot of excitement for MSU fans. Many fans have very high expectations for the returning Freshman. He averaged 17.75 points over his last 4 games. Watts looks to be primed for a breakout with an opening in the backcourt.

Joey Hauser

Joey Hauser is a transfer from the University of Marquette who last year, but he was not immediately eligible to play for the 2019-2020 season. According to an interview from Sports Illustrated, Tom Izzo said, “he does have the ability to change the game in a lot of ways.” Fans have a reason to be excited about his potential.

Aaron Henry

Aaron Henry entered his name into the NBA draft, but he maintained his eligibility. If Henry improves his 3-point shot, he will be a very dangerous player on the floor, causing problems for defenses and opposing offenses. He finished the year averaging 10 points, 5 boards, and 3 assists a game.

Malik Hall

The freshman shined in certain games last year for MSU. If he improves, he will be a very solid starter as soon as next year. Malik averaged 5 and 4 last year, and started in 9 games for the Spartans.

Gabe Brown

The 6-8 210 pound athletic forward has a lot of potential down the road. Brown averaged 7 points and 4 boards while starting in just over half of MSU’s games. He should be one to watch out for in the future.

Mady Sissoko

The 39th overall recruit in the nation could start as a Freshman. This is depending on whether Xavier Tillman keeps his name in the NBA draft.

More possible starters include Marcus Bingham Jr. and AJ Hoggard, but they will need to prove themselves to Tom Izzo to earn a starting spot.
